The Myth...
Legal vs Illegal
A legitimate Network Marketing opportunity is not a get rich quick scheme. It's a business that generates income over time IF YOU put the work into it. What you put into your business is what you will get out of your business. Network Marketing is nothing more than a "small franchise" that an individual purchases to make extra income. This person becomes an Independent Representative, Distributor, or Contractor for the company when they sign up.
The goal of a Network Marketing company is to give individuals a business opportunity to make extra income by selling their products or services. You can either sell these items directly OR build a team of professionals to help you sell their products to the consumer. But BEWARE of companies that place a heavy focus on team building vs. selling the actual products. If there is no "tangible" product involved and you're only paid when you sign new recruits, then this may not be the right the opportunity for you. Take a look at the pictures below.

The Structure Is Not The Scheme
Every Corporation, School, Church, Military and all levels of government use a pyramidal structure. If you have a job, this is the same structure the company you work for has. It is virtually impossible for hourly employees to be paid executive salaries if they lack "working knowledge" of the daily operations of the company.
This is why the owner(s), executives, and upper management are paid more based on the work that you do. And to some degree, there is nothing wrong with this structure when it is applied correctly in the business world. Network Marketing uses the same structure, but gives you the opportunity to be your own boss with your own customers you get and distributors on your team. The amount of money you want to earn is up to you since YOU are now the owner. |
A Pyramid Scheme
A pyramid scheme can be defined as a fraudulent money-making scheme that has an unsustainable business model and product.
Their goal is to get a mass amount of people investing hundreds and thousands of dollars into a "get rich quick scheme" with no legitimate products or services offered. Then, a handful of dishonest people begin taking all of the money invested into their scheme and live large off of the "pipe dream" they just sold to the eager, unsuspecting Network Marketer. But when the new recruits fail to sustain the payment structure, the entire scheme collapses and none of the money is returned to the initial investors. If there is no product for your initial investment and you are only paid when people join under you, then I highly suggest you rethink your affiliation with that particular business. |
What To Look For In Network Marketing
Here are some questions to ask the person who presents an opportunity to you. This could save you lots of time, money, and heartache from falling into a "fly by night" scheme:
- Is there a legitimate product involved?
- Do you get commissions based on product distribution & recruitment?
- Does the company have a proven track record?
- Will the company buy back any unsold products?
- What training do they provide?
Now, I can't speak for every company that is out there on their products and commission payouts. However, I can speak about the company that I'm currently representing: MintBuilder
Here is what MintBuilder offers: The company has been established for 6 years and currently operating in 25 countries. We have two headquarters one is located in the United Kingdom for the European market and Sarasota, FL which is only 15 minutes away from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. The products we sell are recognized and accepted world wide-Silver & Gold. MintBuilder pays its affiliates for selling their products AND building a team of distributors as well. They also offer bonuses on top of the commissions to the ones who have the most sales per month. Also, MintBuilder will buy back ALL of their products if you are unsatisfied with it. It's that simple. Business training is provided on how to help you increase sales and how to train your team to do the same as well. Live webinars and videos are also available from the top executives to help assist members in building the business. |
MintBuilder also gives back by donating a portion of its sales to feed children around the world each month.
