The TRANSFORMERS is my all time favorite cartoon! This entertainment franchise has captured the young and the young at heart through TV shows, comic books, toys, video games, and Hollywood films. I still do my best to collect the action figures as much as I can since the first generation of toys are very expensive and are becoming harder to find. But when I found out by "chance" that they were going to be on a coin, my emotions ran very high! In 2013, the New Zealand Mint launched The TRANSFORMERS as a legal tender coin set. The two coin set is based on the classic 1986 theatrical TRANSFORMERS The Movie and presented in the theme packaging of the robots faction. Reverse Design Each coin dramatically shows Optimus Prime and Megatron in high quality, detailed color. The characters are set against an engraved relief background along with their iconic logo. Obverse Design Both coins features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and is legal tender, under the authority of Niue Island. Packaging The coins are presented in a TRANSFORMERS themed display cube embossed with Decepticon and Autobot insignia's and features a unique "spin " action to lock and unlock it.
