LIMITED MINTAGE OF 2,000!
The Norse Goddesses series was unveiled by Tuvalu in 2017. The first design of the series is Freya. This antiqued Freya coin was struck by the Perth Mint. It has high relief, is made of .9999 fine silver and weighs 2 Troy oz. A mintage limit of 2,000 pieces was set for this coin. Freya is depicted on the reverse. She is in a standing position while she holds a sword. A cat can be seen on her shoulder and a large boar is next to her. The antiqued finish helps to really bring out the fine details. The profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as designed by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley adorns the obverse.

This Commemorative Proof 2018-W $10 American Gold Liberty is part of the second year of issue of this new series. Last year's coin was only issued in 1 oz., and this 1/10 oz. coin was issued to make the designs accessible to more collectors. The coin was struck from .9999 fine gold at the West Point Mint, which is represented by a "W" Mint mark.
Justin Kunz designed the obverse, which was groundbreaking in that it features Liberty depicted as an African-American woman. Her hair is tied up in a bun, and her shoulders are open to the holder. On her head is a crown of stars. The reverse image was designed by Chris Costello. It features a side view of an eagle in flight. The design is particularly noteworthy for its sharp detail. This coin was graded and encapsulated by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation whom determined that this coin is in perfect condition, so they awarded it their highest grade, Proof 70. It also earned certifications as an Ultra Cameo (UC) and an Early Release (ER). |
