 To mark the occasion of its 50th Anniversary in 2017 the South African Mint Released a silver Premium Uncirculated version of it's gold Krugerrand. The issue was so popular that it was followed by a bullion release in 2018. This makes the 2019 version only the second year of this young series. This makes it an ideal choice for collecting or stacking. Iconic Paul Kruger design by Otto Schultz: Paul Schultz's obverse design debuted on the 1984 Gold Krugerrand. It shows Paul Kruger, the third president of the South African Republic, in left-side profile. He bears a stern countenance and wears his signature long, full beard. A springbok antelope gracefully bounds across the savanna on Coert Steynberg's reverse. Its head turns slightly to the holder's right, which enables the holder to examine its face at a slight angle. So closely associated with the country is the animal, that its national teams are referred to as "the Springboks."
