LIMIT 2 PER HOUSEHOLD DUE TO MARKET CONDITIONS & AVAILABILITY This coin is the 2nd coin of the 2017 issue and 37th overall in the ATB Series. It depicts Frederick Douglass, a prominent African-American during the latter half of the 19th century and a proponent of black freedom and rights during and after the US Civil War. The reverse of this coin features Frederick Douglass in the foreground and his home in the background. Frederick Douglass National Historic Site is located in the Anacostia neighborhood of southeastern Washington D.C. and is administered by the National Park Service. The site was established in 1988 to preserve the estate of Frederick Douglass. Douglass lived in the home from 1877 until his death in 1895. In the foreground of the design is Frederick Douglass seated at a writing table. The obverse side of the 2017 Frederick Douglass National Historic Site Silver Coin features a left-profile portrait of President George Washington. This image has been used on the US quarter since 1932 when John Flanagan designed the portrait in honor of Washington's 200th birthday.
